The ever-popular Lymm Duck Race returns on Easter Monday (March 28th) thanks to Lymm and District Round Table.

Kindly sponsored by the Co-Op food stores once again, the race starts at 12.30pm with children’s entertainment and stalls, plus the ‘Easter Food Fest’ on Henry Street car park – next to the youth and community centre – all open from 10.30am.

“The Duck Race has helped to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity over the years so we’re determined to keep the momentum going and put on a good event for the local community once again,” said Nick Bond, organiser and Round Table member. “We’re hoping for a good day weather-wise and we encourage everyone from Lymm and beyond to come down and cheer on the ducks!”

Racing duck tickets can be bought online at www.lymmduckrace.co.uk - normal duck tickets are priced at £1, with corporate ducks £30 and super ducks £60. The first normal racing duck over the line receives £100, second place £50 and third £25, with the winning corporate duck nominating £500 to a local charity, and the winning superduck nominating £1,000.

Alternatively, tickets are on sale by The Cross, Lymm, on the three Saturdays preceding Easter Monday and you can also buy them on the day.

Duck Race is Top of the Bill

The crowds flocked to Lymm and District Round Table’s popular Easter Monday Duck Race, helping it to raise more for charity than ever before.

The family event amassed over £7,500 which will go towards worthy causes, largely thanks to the main sponsor – the Co-Operative Food at Cherry Lane – the support of local businesses and the general public. Along with funds raised from the race itself, Lymm Ladies Circle’s Easter Food Fest also added around £1000 to the charity kitty.

“Everything went according to plan and we couldn’t have wished for a better event – the sun even came out for us!” said Nick Elliott, organiser and Round Table member. “We’re eternally grateful to the Co-Op, the local businesses that stepped forward to sponsor us and those who bought a duck to enter the race. We now have the lovely task of donating lots of money to charity.”

The winning ducks were numbers 25 (first), 636 (second) and 305 (third), with the super duck winner named as Clinic Equilibrium and corporate duck winner The Sweet Shop. Each business will now nominate a charity of their choice to donate money to (£1000 for the super duck, £250 for the corporate duck).

Lymm and District Round Table are seeking charities and community groups to donate to – please email info@lymmroundtable.co.uk with your nominations.

Ducks Away

The Lymm Duck Race returns on Easter Monday (April 6th) and organisers Lymm and District Round Table are hoping for another quacking turnout.

The race, once again kindly sponsored by the Co-Op store on Cherry Lane, starts at 12.30pm while all the usual children’s entertainment and stalls, plus the popular ‘Easter Food Fest’ on Henry Street car park – next to the youth and community centre – will be open from 10.30am.

“The Duck Race is now firmly established as one of Lymm’s most popular events and we’re finding that people are travelling in from further afield,” said Nick Elliott, Round Table member. “As well as organising a fun day out for all the family we also strive to raise as much money as possible for charity, which is why the support of local businesses as corporate or super duck sponsors is really important. As has now become customary, the owner of the winning super duck will be able to nominate a charity that we will donate £1000 to, with £250 going to the charity of choice of the corporate duck winner too.”

Racing duck tickets can be bought online at www.lymmduckrace.co.uk - normal duck tickets are priced at £1, with corporate ducks £30 and super ducks £60. The first normal racing duck over the line receives £100, second place £50 and third £25.

Alternatively, tickets are on sale by The Cross, Lymm, on the three Saturdays preceding Easter Monday and you can also buy them on the day.

Lymm Round Table to Celebrate 50th Year

Posted by Chris on Friday, 12 December 2014 at 10:55:14

Filed under: Events, Lymm, Charity, Fundraising, Village centre

Lymm and District Round Table are holding a Charter Night to mark their 50thyear on Friday 20th February, 7:30pm, at the Spread Eagle Hotel, Lymm.

The fundraising group, which organises popular community events throughout the year including the Easter Monday Duck Race, Big Lymm Bonfire and Lymm Beer Fest, is inviting all former Table members to a night of hot food, a private bar and entertainment.

Current chairman Chris Gorman said: “This will be an informal evening where Table members past and present can share stories about the good old days and hopefully catch up with some forgotten faces.

“It would be good to see as many former Tablers there as possible – either from Lymm and District or further afield – plus if anyone has any memorabilia or old photos to add to the occasion that would be great too.”

Tickets are priced at £10 and to book your spot or find out more call Chris Stephens on 01925 759699 (evenings) or email charter@lymmroundtable.co.uk

Duck Race 2014

The ever-popular Lymm Duck Race is once again on the Easter Monday bill (April 21st) and organisers Lymm and District Round Table are expecting another great turnout.

The race, once again sponsored by the Co-Op store on Cherry Lane, begins at 12.30pm and there will be a return for the ‘Easter Food Fest’ on Henry Street car park – next to the youth and community centre – comprising a range of stalls offering food to eat on the day or to take home. The food fair, along with all the usual children’s entertainment and stalls, will be open from 10.30am.

“The Duck Race has become an essential family event for the local community and this is one of the reasons why we manage to raise plenty of money for charity,” said Jon Beesley, Round Table member. “We also rely on the support of local businesses either as main event sponsors who will get great exposure before, during and after the event, or corporate and super duck sponsors. As with last year, the owner of the winning super duck will be able to nominate a charity that we will donate £1000 to, with £250 going to the charity of choice of the corporate duck winner too.”

Racing duck tickets can be bought online at www.lymmduckrace.co.uk - normal duck tickets are priced at £1, with corporate ducks £30 and super ducks £60. The first normal racing duck over the line receives £100, second place £50 and third £25.

Alternatively, tickets are on sale by The Cross, Lymm, on the four Saturdays preceding Easter Monday and you can also buy them on the day.

If you are interested in sponsorship or have an idea for running a stall, then contact Jon on 07557 022071 or sponsorship@lymmduckrace.co.uk
