Is it just me or is it Christmas already? In Lidl last week half the freezer cabinets were empty ready to receive Christmas goods. I did try and point out in my best grumpy old man voice that it was October to which the response was "ah yes but next week it will be November". I bit my lip! I am just waiting to see how long it is before the chocolate manufacturers start trying to convince us that advent acually starts the day after Halloween!
As well as Remember, Remember, the Fifth of November (who could forget?) there are two other important remembers coming up:
This Thursday November 6th some musical friends and I are doing a benefit for Crisis at Christmas at the Cinnamon Club in Bowdon. It features the fabulous Lucy Barlow, Hugh "Van der Graaf" Banton, the awesome sax playing of Michael Healey and me and yet more chums. We even made the Guardian Listings on the weekend (and I don't mean the Warrington or Northwich one either!). Please come along for a great night of Standards, Jazz, Blues and laughs. If you haven't ever been to the Cinnamon Club shame on you ! Its a proper night club like I used to see in films when I was a kid (except there's no girl selling cigs from a tray anymore). Tickets from www.thecinnamonclub.net or call 0161 926 8992 or 01925 754080.
The other important one of course in Remembrance Sunday. Lymm Royal British Legion are recognising the occasion of the centenary of The Great War with a Pie and Peas supper plus musical entertainment and a singalong in aid of The Poppy Appeal. At just £5 including the supper it would be foolish to stay in. It's happening 7pm on Saturday Nov 22nd at the Youth and Community Centre. Sue is helping to organise so again you can call us for tickets 754080 or drop into Lymm Electric, Sextons, Coffee House or Nancy's Deli. Please buy your tickets in advance or you could be pie-less!
More exciting news of the proposed Heritage Centre next time.
Happy Christmas (ironic voice)
