Half a Million
There was an extra special birthday surprise for a great granddad from the town after scooping £500,000 weeks before his 80th.
Denis Wheat, from Lymm, won the top Thunderball prize and now plans to buy a new car as well as treats for wife Barbara, aged 76 and their three children, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The couple, who previously worked on Warburton Toll Bridge in Lymm and a fish and chip shop and have been married for 57 years, said they always keep the same numbers including birth dates of family members.

Harriet Knowles-Jones Has Smashed a Club Record
In only her third race over 3,000m, the Warrington Athletics Club starlet smashed Heather Timmins’ seven-year high with the 9m 48.62s she clocked in the under 17s race in the Trafford Grand Prix at Longford Stadium.

The 15-year-old from Lymm who was the London mini marathon winner last month, scrubbed 11 seconds off the record.
Knowles Jones, whose mum Jayne represented Great Britain as an athlete, continues to prove her dominance in races after a strong cross country campaign that included medal success in national events as well as winning the McCain Cross Challenge in her age group.
Five of her clubmates also recorded personal bests in the Trafford Grand Prix.
Luke Johnston, also running 3,000m, finished 10th in 8m 33.02s to eclipse his previous fastest time by around 12 seconds.
He went on to record a best in his next event too, crossing the line 11th in the British Milers Club Grand Prix 1,500m D race in Solihull in 4m 0.47s.
In the 800m series at Longford Stadium, under 17s runners Chris Fance and Robert Dykes renewed their battle from the Cheshire Championships.
This time Fance came out on top with fifth fifth spot in 2m 6.08sec, while Dykes clocked 2mins 6.58s.
In the 1,500m series, under 20s runner Cameron Field came home second, recording a new best of 4m 5.74s, while in the under 15s girls’ event Amy Gibbons finished 14th in a PB 5m 28.55s.
