Double Fundraiser Charity Benefit

Two charities will benefit from a fashion show to be held in Lymm on March 7.
Soroptimist International of Warrington, a women’s service club, is holding the show to raise money for Breast Cancer Research and the Warrington Women’s Refuge.
Margaret Carr, president of SI Warrington, said: “The fashion show will be held on the day before International Women’s Day, which is really appropriate.
“As Soroptimists we work towards improving the lives of women and girls all over the world. Improving women's health and helping stop violence against women are two issues which are very close to our hearts."
It will be held at Statham Lodge starting at 7pm with refreshments, and tickets £10.
To book, call Joan on 07910 142073.

Harriet Knowles-Jones Has Won Ten Successive Races This Season
The runner from Lymm took her tally into double figures with a spectacular victory in the under-15s Northern Counties Girls’ Championship which she won by an astonishing 39-second margin.
The Warrington AC athlete simply blew the field apart as she led from gun to tape, storming to victory in conditions that had all the runners ankle deep in snow at Knowsley Safari Park.
“I try not to let the conditions worry me,” said the talented teenager.
“I just try to get on with it. I was just really relieved and happy to win. I would have been disappointed to finish outside the top three. The race seemed long, but not too fast.”
The Loreto Grammar School student also led her club to victory in the team event, where she was joined by Lizzie Smith (11th), Sarah McGrail (18th) and Victoria Ramsbotton (34th). The fifth member, Georgia Aston Massey (126th), lost a shoe going round and did well to finish.
Included in her 10 victories this season are three in the prestigious McCain Cross Challenge series in Liverpool, Cardiff and Bristol. She also finished sixth in the 1500m at the Aviva English Schools Championship last July.
Harriet, who trains at least four times a week at Warrington AC under coach Russ Tart – whom she rates as “fantastic” – won the under-13s Northern title two years ago. In that year she also finished third in the national championships.
“In the short term my hope is to do well at the next three major races – the Inter-County, the English Schools’ and the National Championships – which are coming up in the next few weeks.
“In the long term my aim is to be selected to run for Great Britain at senior level.”
Jones is the product of a family with a notable sporting pedigree. Both her parents were international runners and her sister, Emily, 16, is a GB swimmer and Olympic triallist.
